The Codes of Good Practice

Consultation and Partnership
This Code of Good Practice aims to promote and improve awareness and understanding between sectors about consultation and working in partnership.

Equality and Diversity
All Compact signatories will work sensitively towards the promotion of equality, diversity, social inclusion, and community cohesion between and within the diverse range of statutory agencies, voluntary organisations and community groups, for the benefit of the community at large.

Funding & Procurement
This Code of Good Practice aims to clarify the funding relationship between statutory and voluntary and community partners operating within Bedfordshire and Luton.

Volunteering

This Code of Good Practice sets out undertakings for both the statutory sector and the voluntary and community sector on volunteering. It aims to:

raise the profile of volunteering and promote it as a community activity

·

value the vast contribution that volunteers make to the local community

·

acknowledge the variety of volunteering opportunities

·

enable and support more people to get involved in volunteering

·

recognise that local voluntary organisations and community groups can provide excellent training, support and development for volunteers to go into work, either paid or unpaid

·

encourage better practice in the management of volunteers

·

identify and remove the barriers to volunteering
